Under Way

Good morning,

It's looking a bit more comfortable in here. Still more to add, but at least there is now a way for you to get in touch with us aside from posting (see the sidebar area under Contact Information) and there is an explanation, albeit long-winded, of the origins of this project (see the profile on the sidebar).

I cannot emphasize enough how much we want to encourage your posts. And, if you have a comment, an observation, maybe even a story your grandparents told you, please join in, either through the Comments or directly in an email. If you would like to be a regular contributor, let us know.

While we are gathering this information in order to tell better stories, we also wish to create and maintain a means of gathering and preserving the fast disappearing first and second-hand knowledge of Finland and immigration to the States during the first few decades of the 1900's.

And, if you are looking for information or are involved in a project of your own whether concerning personal family history or otherwise, feel free to ask. As long as the subject is on topic...which here is quite broad...we encourage everyone's participation.

Looking forward to entertaining many new visitors and turning visitors into friends...

Welcome and congratulations for being the first Commentor.

Send whatever links you'd like to recommend; we do want to create a links directory. We'll look forward to hearing much more.

(Do you have any of your stories posted anywhere online that we can point others toward?)

I've written two storys, "My Fathers Curlers", is about my dad, who was a somewhat vain Finlander. (is there any other kind? teasing) And "A Half Finish Finnish", has my family and alittle about the "white death" finnish army in it. I'm looking forward to reading more stories here.

Hi to LabMunkay,

Have you published your stories, in print or online? Is there a source to which we can point people?

If not, are you interested in posting them? Use the chroniclers@quartoway.com email to respond "offline"...if you are interested in discussing this further.

Alternatively, would you consider posting an excerpt for...a little taste? Would you be interested in contributing from time to time? Let us know.

Look forward to hearing...
