It is our hope that, as we post our discussions about the research we are undertaking towards writing historical fiction, you...the readers of this blog...will add your own comments, information and even recollections. </tagline>

Good morning,

It's looking a bit more comfortable in here. Still more to add, but at least there is now a way for you to get in touch with us aside from posting (see the sidebar area under Contact Information) and there is an explanation, albeit long-winded, of the origins of this project (see the profile on the sidebar).

I cannot emphasize enough how much we want to encourage your posts. And, if you have a comment, an observation, maybe even a story your grandparents told you, please join in, either through the Comments or directly in an email. If you would like to be a regular contributor, let us know.

While we are gathering this information in order to tell better stories, we also wish to create and maintain a means of gathering and preserving the fast disappearing first and second-hand knowledge of Finland and immigration to the States during the first few decades of the 1900's.

And, if you are looking for information or are involved in a project of your own whether concerning personal family history or otherwise, feel free to ask. As long as the subject is on topic...which here is quite broad...we encourage everyone's participation.

Looking forward to entertaining many new visitors and turning visitors into friends...

Good morning and welcome, again...

Today, I feel better about inviting everyone in, except of course we don't have much "furniture" in the house yet. We will add that as we go.

So, what's this all about? First and foremost, a curiosity to learn more about the myths, the history and the culture of the Finns. Our goal is to put that learning to use in telling stories. Not merely the standard immigrant stories, the biographies if you will, which are useful and informative if sometimes repetitive, but the real dramas which capture the essence of human history where individual actions made a difference in the world that followed.

We today look too often at history as something distant and unrelated to who we are and what we have to do to make our way in life. That, as you may suspect, is patently untrue. What this blog intends to service is the opening of an awareness, in regards the Finnish people, of the relevance of their history.

We encourage, even solicit, your contributions. Add comments as you like. We will shortly add additional ways for you to contact us, because we would like to hear what you have to add on this subject, whether personal memories or stories your grandparents told you. All are welcome.
